Join us at our monthly Go Lead Idaho Social Hour. This month we’re inviting women who serve and lead in our state legislature to attend. We’d love to see you even if you can only drop by for a few minutes after work.

Board Vacancy on Boise City/Ada County Housing Authority

The Board of Ada County Commissioners is seeking a volunteer to serve on the Boise City/Ada County Housing Authority Board.  This opening is for the remainder of a term expiring on October 31, 2013.
The Boise City/Ada County Housing Authority Board meets on the second Wednesday of each month, and performs other duties and functions as required by the agency’s by-laws and by regulations of the Authority.
Individuals interested in serving on this board are asked to complete a volunteer board application, available at the Ada County Commissioners Office or on the Web. The Commissioners Office is located on the third floor of the Ada County Courthouse at 200 W. Front Street, Boise, 83702. The application is also available on the Ada County website at www.adaweb.net – from the Commissioners page, click on the “Volunteer Boards & Committees” link, or follow the link below.
Completed applications must be delivered to the Ada County Commissioners office at the address above, sent via fax to 287-7009, or e-mailed to bocc1@adaweb.net. This volunteer position will remain open until filled. Please call 287-7000 for additional information.

Girl Scouts, Silver Sage Council Seeking CEO

Girl Scouts of Silver Sage announces a search for CEO to lead the Council to provide Girl Scouting’s pre-eminent programming to help girls develop as leaders and build confidence by learning new skills.  Membership is for girls ages 5-17 in 34 counties in Southern Idaho and adjacent communities in Eastern Oregon and parts of Northern Nevada, as well as Duck Valley and Fort Hall Indian Reservations.  Click here for full job description and application.

Giving Thanks & News of Note

Tis the season to give thanks, and Go Lead Idaho has a lot for which to be thankful.First, with elections behind us, we can again thank our fore-mothers for the dedication and passion they showed in achieving the significant right to vote in the late 19th century.  We celebrate our ability to both vote and run for office as a result of that historical movement.Secondly, the 113th Congress will have at least 20 female Senators, the most ever in US history. In the House at least 81 women were elected, breaking the record set in 2008. (Read more about the record-setting election)Here in the Valley, nine women were either newly elected or re-elected to serve in the State Legislature!  We are thankful for that kind of representation at the Statehouse in the coming year.  And, women are represented well at the local level, including the Boise, Meridian, Nampa and Caldwell City Councils, ACHD, College of Western Idaho Board of Trustees and elsewhere.And, we have a lot to look forward to.  Here are some dates of note:
